In this video I show how to install latest drivers on a Samsung laptop. This is a Samsung 7 Spin model 740u5m. This computer was brought into my shop with the customer complaining of no keyboard backlight. He was in the Savannah Georgia area and looked me up called me and came by my shop. Samsung does not make it easy to get drivers simply from their website. You have to install an app from the Microsoft app store called Samsung Update. Once the app is installed you can then view the current installed updates and any newer drivers available for that laptop. You can then proceed to install those drivers as needed. Samsung also pushes bios updates in this manner so you cannot find any of these driver updates simply by browsing to their website. If you are in the Savannah Georgia area look me up I’ll be glad to help you out.

Sir it says that this model be supported true a Windows update
Just installed windows 10 on a laptop for the first time and i needed a way to get the drivers easily, thank you for the video
There is a way through regedit but it still won't work. It'll list all drivers after choosing exact laptop but will never download. It'll sit there with 0 out of 3gb+ downloaded. So yes there is no way technically 😁
It's a shame Samsung stopped making laptops, they had an excellent Utrabook series (9?) equipped with everything you need, even a backup and restore program.
I'm a quite experienced technician, but I did not know about the Samsung Update app from the Microsoft store. Excellent tip!
Without this kind of Samsung drivers and software you could miss out on feature controls like brightness, function keys and volume control.
However – Ironically enough when I installed the Samsung app, there were no updates for my model, and there was a message saying that all further updates would be taken care of by Windows 10 update!
So back to square one, unless Windows 10 Update now actually takes care of driver updates.
Those of you who still don't have FN functions and keyboard backlight, download the program on the list called Samsung Settings. It will enable your keyboard backlight and allow you to change many other settings. BIOS updating does not fix the problem on a majority of Windows 7/8/8.1 Samsung laptops when moving to Windows 10.
My webcame is not working in windows 10. My model is NP300X
How do u stop it. Because mine takes a full day and I have to edit a video and for an hour now and it is still 0% I have the same laptop

I can't set the Brightnes on my Ativ Book 8!
The FN Key's don't work! How can I fix this???
when i installed windows 10
this all drivers install failed
please fix
please please tell mw solution
Hey Tim, thanks for the clear steps! I have a Series 5 NP530S3C-AO6SG and I managed to get to the page to download drivers. However, I don't see any BIOS driver available for download. Does that mean it's not available at all? My Fn key doesn't work for brightness.
Just to note that this procedure does not work on all slightly older Samsung laptops. I have an NP770Z5E-S01 from 2013 which is an amazing laptop still outperforming so many modern day laptops but man Samsung screwed up when Windows 10 came out. I had to go back to Windows 8.1 after discovering lack of driver support for Windows 10. Windows 10 drivers were not available for almost 5 years. However, to my surprise I just downloaded the latest SWUpdate Tool from: http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/SW/201909/20190925132355842/SamsungUpdate_2.2.9.47.ZIP and found I could now locate Windows 10 drivers for my old laptop!!! Be warned though Samsung have moved all legacy laptop drivers and software downloads to a slow unreliable server. Using SWUpdate to download a 200Mb file takes the best part of 24 hours if the server doesn't break the connection. No other way to get drivers but to use their shit software.
Awesome channel this is what i needed thank you very much …….
excuse me sir how can i get in touch with you? ive been having serious problems with both of my samsung laptops and i really need help. i cannot find an IT anywhere around me that understands samsung's ever so specific software. i have been awake for a week now (SERIOUSLY only getting like 3 hrs sleep every 2 days) because my issue is that bad! all i need is the sw update original tool and i cannot find it anymore! microsoft removed it in previous updates and to find a working sw update tool online has become impossible! PLEASE TELL ME HOW I CAN REACH YOU?
Thanks so much!!! Your video is the only which worked to me, and seriously, i've tried a lot of ways. thx thx thx
Update: you can install the Samsung Update app on a second PC or laptop, just download the necessary files, transfer them by USB stick (for example) and then install them on your Samsung Laptop that doesn't have Internet connection anymore…
That's all very well, but my network adapter has no driver installed anymore and hence I have no wifi and hence I cannot download anything. Notebook has no slot for LAN cable – just USB. Tried to connect to other PC via Bluetooth but didn't work either (something about missing IP config)
In many Samsung laptops (I've tried four different models) the Samsung windows app won't work either. It stays on "loading" for ages. I left my laptop for about a couple of days and it didn't went through.
So I just changed the windows policy on user account control by disabling the option to run all administrators by admin approval mode. Then the application run and updated it self at first and then my laptop drivers as well…
Solution: Open the local group policy editor, and change the policy: Win+R – type in gpedit.msc, – Enter. Go to "Computer ConfigurationWindows SettingsSecurity SettingsLocal PoliciesSecurity Options". In the right pane, double-click on User Account Control: Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode. Then change the security setting to disabled and click OK.
Do your job and don't forget to reverse the procedure in order to be protected from many malicious software in the future. Thank me later 🙂
