Still buying it in 2020. I had one before but gave it away when getting a smartphone, but now I'm going back to it. I dropped my previous one from 3 stories and nothing happened. Love it.

That phone isn't built anymore . Samsung should build it again . A very reliable phone . Shock and waterproof . I've taken underwater pictures with it . A real great phone .
How's the gps

I actually think the camera is great for 2mp. It produces large pics unlike many of the touch type phones which produce pocket size pics. Although the screen is supposed to be scratch resistant, I get screen protectors from Amazon. I bought mine from the UK, as NZ has the international version which is all black. The UK had the misty blue version 🙂
I turn off the key sounds, as they can be distracting. Love the keypad, and the overall ruggedness of this phone! I use the torch a lot, which is very powerful, and often use the camera. I don't have any problem using the screen, it's nice and clear, and can accommodate different font sizes.
Have you ever heard of a IPhone or a Samsung galaxy s/1/2/3/4/5/6? Or HTC Etc
I agree a really good phone, but the switch off after 20 sec is annoying.

awful shit!
the audio output over cable is a bit complicated… you have to buy an very rare micro usb to klinke that works on this phone because if not it just not detects any output and keeps playing over the intern soundsystem
Just started using this phone, I agree with the comment about the screen from kerkkoful. It is not the best res so does have a kind of blurry haze from certain positions and can annoy my eyes, could be down to the thickness of the screen – changing the brightness helps. Generally the phone is quite good however the battery is not lasting as long as I would have hoped with general usage (about 2-3 days).
i have this fone i think its awesome for me , but i bought the right sd card for it but and put it in, when i go into memoery it has 1, 2, 3, 4, , it will let me access 2, 3, 4, but not 1 , do i need to activate the sd card ? not heard of this before, have you any knowledge of this please ? thanx
This phone only has a GPS compass (i.e. not a magnetic one) and GPS pedometer.
In other words,it's not like a true GPS device, in that you must couple it with google maps and pay for the 3G bandwidth used to exchange GPS data with their servers, if you want it navigating for you.
If at least the compass had a built-in waypoint function I'd be all over it.

Can you pin lock the screen
I just bought this phone and the screen looks kinda weird, it strains my eyes. Sideways it looks normal. Does anyone else have this problem? It's really hard to explain what I mean…
you can edit the text using the samsung theme designer, works well, not the easiest programm to use though. the 20 sec lock you can turn off in your settings
Good review, the 20 seconds lock out is a pain, as well as the large text is not big enough for my eyes.
the card? sim card you can slide out, same goes for the micro sd card
you can get a cheap micro usb to 3.5 mm jack converter. the headphone's out of the box are bad quality. you can still use them to make calls, and they are required if you would want to listen to radio (which is odd)

What about the headrphones, are they any good? The only downside is for me that i couldn't out a 3.5mm headphone in it, u should always go what u get from the box.

The sides are actually hard plastic i believe, not rubber. Note that this phone does NOT have a normal audio jack connection (3.5mm) instead, it uses a micro usb port, the same port is also used for charging and data transfer…
Yes, it does have GPS, also comes with Google Maps and a (digital) Compass
So – there's no GPS on this then? !!!!!
Finally a review that tells you how the reception and the calling experience is about… I am sick and tired of reviews telling you all about the phone features but not the most important thing, which is the quality of a phonecall!

I watched this video on a Samsung GT-B2710 and you can stop your phone from locking itself by going to "Settings" then choosing "Phone" then choosing "Keypad auto-lock" then choosing "off" then pressing "Save" you can also choose how long your screen stays lit up for by going to "Settings" choosing "Display" then choosing "Backlight" then selecting how long you want your screen to be lit up for once you've done that you press "Save".
